Trustees & Governance

The Trustee Board at Chester Students' Union operates as the cornerstone of effective governance and stewardship.

The organisation is currently undergoing a significant period of change and the Board is a key part of the change. During this time Trustee Board has established a Turnaround Board to oversee the change programme and have delegated many of their functions whilst we restructure the board. When the change programme is complete the Board will comprising a diverse array of experienced individuals, including student representatives, a lay member of the University Council, and external experts, the Board brings a wealth of perspectives to the table.

Their primary functions encompass strategic oversight, financial accountability, and ensuring the union operates in accordance with its constitution and legal obligations. By setting long-term goals, evaluating performance, and allocating resources responsibly, the Trustee Board ensures that the Students' Union remains a dynamic platform for student engagement, support, and advocacy. Their collaborative efforts not only safeguard the union's financial stability but also uphold the values of transparency, inclusivity, and student well-being, elevating the overall student experience at the University of Chester.
