#ProudToBe Fund

Who are you #ProudToBe?

We want to support you to host a range of events and projects to celebrate and promote liberation, equality, diversity and inclusion. We believe that change in the University should be led by you, the students - so if you’d like to plan an event or activity, we can support you through our #ProudtoBe fund.

We want to help you celebrate your community!

What has the fund been used for so far?

  • Free pronoun badges to give out to students and staff
  • Funding an on-campus Pride event.
  • Celebrating Holi

Do you have an idea?

We’d love to hear your ideas and to have a bigger student presence in organising events and campaigns.

We are pleased to invite you to apply for funding to make your ideas a reality! An example of the kinds of things we could help you create are:

  • Cultural and learning events (such as poetry readings, performances or guest speakers)
  • Competitions, displays and exhibitions
  • Community-building projects or those intended to make students feel included in the Students’ Union and at the University
  • Projects designed to celebrate a group or groups, for example, a celebration for Diwali.

Help us improve what we’re already doing

If you have an idea or event you’d like to run as a part of these months, please fill out the application form and (depending on how long it is before the event, and subject to approval by the team) we will try our very best to work with you to include it.

Examples of campaigns you may be interested in celebrating:

  • Black History Month (October)
  • Disability History Month (November)
  • LGBTQIA+ History Month (February)
  • Asian Culture/History Month (May)

Applications will remain open until 100% of the Proud to Be Fund has been allocated.
