I have worked closely with the University to support the redesign of Moodle and the Exceptional Circumstances Policy, ensuring students' voices were at the heart of those changes. As part of this, In February, I led two campaigns on Moodle Redesign and Exceptional Circumstances Policy to engage students, raise awareness, and gather feedback. I have also contributed to policy reforms on anonymous marking, attendance monitoring app, and the development of the new academic framework, championing students’ voices to enhance learning environment.
I have worked closely with our Students’ Voice (SV) Coordinator, Noah, to establish a more structured and effective student feedback process, with the introduction of a dedicated SVP feedback sheet, allowing all SVPs to log student concerns in one place, making it easier for us to track and act on them. Together, we have also delivered comprehensive training for SVRs and SVPs on how to gather and report feedback efficiently, as well as capturing the PGR students’ community within the SV system. Additionally, I have taken a proactive approach by roaming across university campuses to collect feedback directly from students, while also utilising our Instagram stories to reach a wider audience and capture academic feedback online.
In February, I hosted impactful and practical LinkedIn profile optimisation and networking session at the Students Leaders’ Conference educating students on how to utilise LinkedIn more for career readiness and opportunities. Last November, I also organised and hosted the CSU Interfaculty FIFA Tournament to promote cross-faculty platform for students to network and have fun.
I have actively worked with faculties to promote inclusive practices in teaching through various academic committees that I attend. A good example was addressing and resolving timetable clashing and changes concerns raised by the students in term one. Last October, I engaged in advocating for the housing rights of Chester students at the national level. I met with our local MP at the House of Parliament in London, lobbying for the ban on landlords requiring guarantors for student housing. This national advocacy contributed to MPs voting in favour of banning landlords from demanding multiple months of rent upfront from students.
