Recognition and awards

We understand the value of being part of a committee and the impact it can have on your personal and professional growth.

To acknowledge your efforts, we offer various recognition opportunities within our Societies.

Did you know that every hour you dedicate to your society as a committee member counts as volunteering? This means that attending meetings and investing time in planning for your society can contribute towards different awards across Chester Students’ Union and the University of Chester.

By participating in trainings organised by the union, managing events, campaigning, and planning activities, you collect volunteering hours. However, please note that attending events, social gatherings, traveling to events, or attending CSU events such as CHESTIVAL cannot be logged as volunteering hours.

Society Awards

Society Awards are CSU’s annual awards evening to celebrate the achievements of our societies! Each year, our societies vote for their fellow societies across a range of award categories, such as Academic Society of the Year, New Society of the Year, Society Event of the year and more! This evening is a fabulous opportunity to celebrate the incredible achievements, both big and small, amongst other societies and committee members who have worked tirelessly to improve their community. HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Report)

Being part of a committee will be recorded in your HEAR - Higher Education Achievement Report. The HEAR is designed to recognise and appreciate the various opportunities provided by higher education institutions in the UK, showcasing the achievements and experiences of students. Your HEAR record will be added to your transcript from the University of Chester and you will receive this at the end of your studies.

Volunteering Awards

The University of Chester offers their own Volunteering Awards. Once you register as a volunteer, these awards provide recognition for your commitment based on the number of hours you contribute. They also give you the chance to document and reflect on your volunteering experience. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to participate in employability workshops and enhance your presentation skills.

Chester Difference Award (CDA):

The Chester Difference Award (CDA) is a skills-based recognition program that acknowledges students who actively participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities during their time at the University of Chester. With the CDA, students can gain recognition for their contributions outside of their academic endeavours and develop techniques to effectively showcase their skills and experiences to future employers.

We would encourage all of our committee members to engage with these various initiatives as a way to showcase your commitment to your personal and professional growth!
