It's that time of year where we say farewell to our departing officers, and welcome in our new ones. First up, we have Adedayo, your 24-25 Vice President Education, reflecting on his year in office.
I have so much enjoyed the opportunity to serve and represent the views of the students over the past year. As I step down from my role as Vice President Education, I want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported me throughout this journey.
This past year has flown by - filled with lessons, challenges, and proud moments. Over the past year, I have had the privilege of championing student voices and driving positive change. Some of the highlights include advocating for the ban of guarantor requests on students housing, resolving timetable clashes, advocating students’ voices on dissertation resits for postgraduate students to retain graduate visa eligibility, and running campaigns on Moodle redesign, exceptional circumstances, and promoting the CSU Advice Service. I also contributed to national advocacy efforts that led to MPs voting to ban landlords from demanding multiple months’ rent upfront, a major win for students across the country.
One of the final areas I was working on before stepping down was reviewing and improving the Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) system. I launched a student survey and began engaging with key university stakeholders to ensure a more effective and supportive experience for all students, a project I hope will continue to grow beyond my term of office.
I am super grateful to the CSU team, university staff, and fellow officers for their unwavering support, encouragement, and teamwork.
Although I am stepping down from the VP Education role, I won’t be far! I will be continuing my journey within the University of Chester, joining the Finance Team, so I am very much still around and looking forward to supporting students in a different capacity.
To the incoming officers, I wish you all the very best. This role is a unique opportunity to make real change, and I have no doubt you will do amazing things.
Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart.
This is not goodbye, just see you around! 🥺
