Hello everyone! Its Lily here and I am back for the final time this academic year to bring you your June round up. It’s a bittersweet one this time round as this is our last one with Summer (VP Student Life) and Adedayo (VP Education) before our new officers join us in July. So, what’s been going on….
It’s been a month filled with committees for us all. We have been giving our reports on what is being said by our amazing students and informing the university of issues that students face everyday, from something as little as checking a book out in the library, to the cost of living. In these committees we also receive updates from the university, and it is our job to challenge them on areas where students will be impacted - we are always thinking of you 😉
We attended the University of Sanctuary Celebration, which was a chance for staff, students, and our wider community to come together as the university received its official certificate. The event also featured artwork from current Education and Fine Art students, exploring themes of sanctuary and the refugee experience through their work. It was such a lovely evening to be part of.
Summer completed her last ever event which was her Board Game Event – this was incredibly fun for everyone involved and she loved hosting these during the year! Let us know if this something you would like us to continue here at CSU.
I ran my mini-series over on the @CSUOFFICERTEAM Instagram all about female empowerment. It was so lovely to get our community celebrating women and discussing how you can support female empowerment every day. If you like this format on Instagram, then let us know what else you would like us to discuss. Thank you for every like, comment and share - it means a lot!
Adedayo has been conducting a survey to gather feedback from students about your experiences with PATs. The aim is to better understand what is working well and identify areas for improvement.
In addition, Adedayo attended a meeting with academics at the Chester Business School to discuss the PAT system within the school, aimed at improving the overall student experience. Further communications regarding this initiative and how students can engage with it will be shared in due course.
Summer has been gathering your feedback from Birkenhead to make changes to catering. She also shared your student voice concerns with Garden Lane Councillors and went to Chester Residential Association Group where she discussed upcoming events for students to get involved in.
We have started planning 2025/26 here at CSU, no spoilers but...we have some amazing things to come. Keep an eye out because we have listened to YOU and are bringing you exactly what you want!
I just wanted to take the chance to say a big thank you to Summer and Adedayo for all their incredible hard work this last year. We appreciate you and everything you do we can’t wait to see what you both get up to next and wish you nothing but the best 💖
That’s everything for June, I will see you very soon with even more energy than before.
Lily
