Seb Uribe - The Voice of the International Student

What is home? Is it a place, a feeling, or the people we love? Is it where we come from, or what we carry with us?

My journey started in a Russian kindergarten in Lithuania, then Norway and later Chicago. Now, we’re all here in Chester, each with our own story. I’ve seen the challenges and the joy of being an international student through myself and others. Sometimes, home feels distant, but I believe we can all bring home - to Chester.

Vision:

  • Accommodation: Improve the university’s support for students in securing safe and affordable accommodation by providing resources, building connections with private firms, and offering assistance for international students. Having already discussed with the accommodation team, I see the potential.
  • Connection: More comprehensive orientation programs and online resources to help students settle in more quickly and feel connected from day one.
  • Community: I will create stronger support networks by organizing events that help international students connect, share, and build a vibrant community.
