Hey everyone!
It’s Lily, your SU President, and I’m so excited to be introducing something you have all been asking for. As you may or may not know, I have made work around the cost of living crisis one of my key priorities for the next year, but with a fresh and fun feel to it.
So, with that being said I am introducing to you my brand-new cooking show: Stirring the Pot with Lily!
This isn’t just another food show. It’s real recipes for real students – the kind of meals you can actually make with what’s in your cupboard, that are quick and low cost.
What’s it about?
· Low-cost meals that don’t break your budget
· Quick and easy recipes that fit into a busy schedule
· Zero judgment if all you’ve got is a tin of beans.
Whether you're a total beginner in the kitchen or just looking for new inspo that doesn’t cost a tenner a portion, this is for you.
Why now?
We all know the cost-of-living crisis is hitting students hard. From sky-high rent prices to grocery prices that make you double-take, things are tight. And while we can’t fix everything overnight, we can support each other through practical tips, shared skills, and a bit of fun along the way.
This show is part of my wider campaign to highlight how rising living costs are affecting students – and to fight for better support. But it’s also about empowering you with the small wins that do make a difference. Like knowing how to make a week’s worth of meals for under a tenner.
What can you expect?
Each episode will be fun and different:
· Budget-friendly student staples
· Creative ways to use leftovers
· Hacks to stretch your food further
· And the occasional special guest
It’s honest and a bit chaotic. Think more "cooking in a tiny flat kitchen" than "MasterChef."
Where to watch?
You can catch Stirring the Pot with Lily every Friday at 1pm on our Student Union’s YouTube channel and there will a shorter version up on the @CSUOFFICERTEAM Instagram so you can cook along with me. Not to mention that this week’s show even features a giveaway!
So grab a wooden spoon, bring your appetite, and let’s stir the pot – in more ways than one.
Stay hungry (but not too hungry), Lily x
