Ethernet in Halls

The Internet across university is notoriously terrible, however its made worse when individuals go to their accomodation and still cannot recieve decent wifi.
A few years ago the univeristy stopped offering ethernet in halls as they believed if they upgraded the wireless wifi then there would be no need for ethernet, this is wrong. And it is made significantly worse as most students require wifi to submit assignments and complete their course. This is not a want, it is a nessesity for many students.
Many rooms in halls have ethernet ports, although these have been disabled. Enabling them is not hard work and will not cost money as the infrastructure is still there. And ethernet is still used in educational buildings.
Pros of Ethernet
- As cheap as wireless
- Faster than wireless
- More Reliable than wireless
Cons of Ethernet
- Students will have to purchuase own cables between their devices, although this is still a better option than what we have now
