The response from catering is as follows:

"I am sorry that we did not meet the students’ expectations, but I have had a look and here is the feedback, but I am happy to discuss with you or the student further. They have mentioned that the “portion sizes are getting smaller and smaller, take breakfast for example, you were allowed 3 pastries, although I stuck to 2. No it is 1 pastry and if you want more you can only have toast”. “The food choice, flavour, and quantity is the best when it is an open day. After that the food goes downhill again" - Please see breakfast entitlement for full board students [3 items per student; 1 may be a pastry].

“This week i bought "Kebab and Chips" for an evening meal, what i got instead was exactly 13 Chips, a small bit of kebab and a piece of naan. “For the full board students paying £190 /week for what is a small room you should expect hearty meals”. They also commented they felt “left hungry afterwards. The full board entitlement is £190.00 for room and full board but Catering receives £55.00 per week for 21 meals – 3 meals a day ,seven days a week which equates to £2.62 per meal as you can see this is not a lot of money.

We offer all students a desert and main course that includes the protein ,carbohydrate and a side .Whilst I am disappointed that they left hungry they could always speak to the manager about the portion size on the night and they could have had extra chips or side dishes but unfortunately the proteins(kebab) will be individual portions due to cost constraints .But would be happy to discuss further."

Recently I have noticed the food served in the dining hall is going downhill;

Firstly the portion sizes are getting smaller and smaller, take breakfast for example; you were allowed 3 pastries, although I stuck to 2. No it is 1 pastry and if you want more you can only have toast

The food choice, flavour, and quantity is the best when it is an open day. After that the food goes downhill again.

This week i bought "Kebab and Chips" for an evening meal, what i got instead was exactly 13 Chips, a small bit of kebab and a piece of naan. For the full board students paying £190 /week for what is a small room you should expect hearty meals. We're not asking for michelin quality. But just a decent portion instead of skimping on costs.

Not everymeal is this bad, but its getting to often where I am left hungry after a meal.
