Csu xmas

What a first term we’ve had! As Term 1 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on a jam-packed first few months at Chester Students' Union. Last week, we launched our very own CSU Wrapped (because who doesn’t love jumping on the bandwagon?!), so let’s take a look at some of the key stats:

  • 28 new societies formed
  • A total of 1,060 society members
  • 282 Student Voice Reps recruited
  • 6 Council Reps elected
  • 801 voters engaged in the Student Council elections
  • 38 events hosted, with an amazing 7,077 attendees in total
  • 71 societies now on offer – from David Attenborough fans to mindfulness champions... what more could you ask for?

It’s not just all about the numbers though; we’ve held campaigns, given out a gatrillion bags of snacks during speak week, launched a new society spotlight newsletter to committee members, held a consent campaign, FIFA tournaments, board game nights, bingo, crafternoons, student voice rep training, student council meetings, reclaim the night, attended conferences and award evenings, been to parliament, trainings, graduations, university council, hosted collaborations with the university, open days, meeting with the council, quizzes – what haven’t we done, we’ve been a busy bunch!

Support:

As we wrap up for the break, we want to remind you that support is still available over the festive period through the Student Assistance Programme. Call the helpline for free: 0800 028 3766 to talk through any problem, or use the Live Chat and video call options on the Wisdom app with our code: MHA146072.

Our 24/7 Student Assistance Programme support includes counselling, exploring mental health concerns and also the option to obtain guidance on personal, financial and legal matters. If English isn’t your first language, there’s the option to connect you to an interpreter so you can chat in your preferred language.

We want to ensure our students feel supported over the winter break - to aid with this we have put together a summary of information to help with staying well.

Holiday Hours:

We’ll be closed from 4:30pm on Friday 20th December until 9am on Thursday 2nd January.

Feeling festive and staying in Chester? Join us for a Board Game Session on 30th December, 2pm to 4pm in the Community Hub at the Chaplaincy Building. It’s a great chance to meet new people, chill out and have fun!

We hope your break is filled with everything you need—rest, joy, and good company. Take care of yourselves, and we’ll see you in 2025 with our renewed energy to serve you, our members!

Happy Holidays! 🎄
