Great news, University of Chester students!

Do you remember my trip to London for the NUS National Lobby Day, where I championed your voices at the Parliament, meeting with our local MP to advocate for No More Guarantors in student housing?

In a significant step towards fairer housing, MPs have voted to ban landlords from demanding multiple months' rent upfront just to secure a place to live. This is a huge win for students who have often been burdened by hefty upfront costs, making housing less accessible and more stressful.

But the fight is not over yet. To make housing truly student-friendly, we need to push for a ban on landlords requesting for guarantors, a common barrier for many students without financial support networks.

Let’s keep the momentum going!

Don't miss our next Chester Students’ Forum (CSF) coming up on the 24th January in the CSU building (on Exton Park campus) at 3pm! We are excited to host our local MP, Samantha Dixon, and the NUS President, who will provide updates on the amended Renters Bills and how they impact you as students. This is also your chance to speak directly with your MP and share any concerns or feedback you may have about issues in the local Chester community.

Be on the lookout for more details about the Chester Students' Forum on our Instagram page, @csuofficerteam.

Your voice matters!
